Techs [Practitioners & Analysts]

Level 1: [RISK] Translator [Foundations]

  • Interview a peer on a control or recent incident; submit notes ( ≥ 300 words)
  • Produce a one-page "jargon → plain language" rewrite of a security control
  • Deliver 5-6 minute talk translating technical risk to business impact
  • Complete one Table Topics incident prompt ( ≥ 2 minutes)
  • Receive two evaluations averaging ≥ 3/5 for clarity and relevance
  • Attend ≥ 2 meetings and serve once as Timer or Grammarian


Level 2: [RISK] Analyst [Applied]

  • Perform a mini risk analysis (asset, threat, vuln, likelihood, impact, options)
  • Create a risk register entry with owner, treatment, and review date
  • Present finding in an 8-10 minute talk with a simple visual (1-3 slides)
  • Serve as Topic Master once; craft 5 scenario prompts
  • Evaluate one peer, focusing on technical clarity and risk framing
  • Average ≥ 3.5/5 across evaluation rubrics; no single category below 3/5


Level 3: [RISK] Communicator [Board-ready]

  • Develop a 6-8 slide board brief: risk appetite tie-in, treatment options, cost-benefit
  • Deliver a 10-12 minute presentation + 5 minute Q&A to a mixed panel
  • Mentor a new Tech member through Level 1 completion (mentor log required)
  • Serve as [RISK]Master of the Day once to run a full meeting
  • Contribute one reusable artifact (template/checklist) to the Chapter
  • Average ≥ 4/5 across panel rubrics; Q&A score ≥ 4/5

Execs [CISOs & Senior Leaders]

Level 1: [RISK] Leader-in-Training [Foundations]

  • Write and present a one-page board memo on a top-3 risk (5-6 minutes)
  • Participate in Table Topics debate: invest vs accept vs transfer
  • Serve as Grammarian or Timer once; model concise executive language
  • Tow evaluations averaging ≥3/5 for executive presence and clarity


Level 2: Crisis Communicator [Applied]

  • Lead a mock crisis briefing with rolling updates (10 minutes) and stakeholder asks
  • Evaluate a Tech or Biz speaker, providing actionable executive framing feedback
  • Serve as Topic Master; prepare 5 crisis prompts aligned to your sector
  • Average ≥ 3.5/5 across rubrics (decision quality, clarity, time control)


Level 3: Boardroom [RISK]Master [Strategic]

  • Deliver a 12-15 minute keynote on cyber risk strategy and value realization
  • Mentor a Tech or Biz member to their Level 2 completion
  • Serve one term as President or VP Education, or run a Chapter initiative
  • Publish a 2-3 page playbook (e.g., board reporting cadence or crisis comms)
  • Average ≥ 4/5 across panel rubrics; stakeholder Q&A ≥ 4/5


Biz [Finance, Legal, Compliance, & Ops]

Level 1: [RISK] Advocate [Foundations]

  • Interview a security peer about a register item; summarize business impact (≥ 300 words)
  • Deliver a 5-6 minute talk linking business KPIs to cyber risk
  • Complete one Table Topics compliance scenario (≥ 2 minutes)
  • Tow evaluations averaging ≥ 3/5 for accessibility and relevance

  • Draft a treatment plan with cost, timeline, owner, success metrics

  • Average ≥ 3/5 across evaluation rubrics

  • Deliver an 8-12 minute persuasive case for cyber investment, including ROI/VOI
  • Mentor a new Bix member through Level 1 completion
  • Lead a PR or membership campaign; report outcomes at a meeting

  • Average ≥ 4/5 across panel rubrics
